Project CARE Raises Awareness on Social Death Across Europe
Over 400 people reached through international and national awareness activities
Project CARE has successfully completed a major phase of its work aimed at raising awareness about social death and social isolation in adult education and workplace contexts.
Over recent months, the project delivered:
One transnational online webinar, and
A series of national dissemination events across partner countries
Altogether, more than 400 participants took part in these activities, including adult educators, adult learners, employed adults, and representatives of small and medium--sized enterprises (SMEs). The events provided safe and engagind spaces to discuss social death, explore its causes and impacts, and reflect on how education, workplaces, and communities can respond with empathy and inclusion.
The awareness activities led to clear and encouraging outcomes. Participants reported:
Increased understanding of the concept of social death
Greater ability to recognise early signs of social isolation
Strong confidence that social death is preventable
A shared view that prevention requires collective responsibility, not individual action alone
These findings confirm the relevance of Project CARE’s educational tools and awareness approach and underline the importance of open dialogue on social connection, dignity, and inclusion.
Building on these results, a Follow-up Mapping Report on Social Death Awareness will be published soon. The report captures changes in awareness, attitudes, and readiness to act following the campaign activities and will support future initiatives in adult education, employment, and community settings.
Final Project Meeting Held in Riga
The project’s final transnational meeting took place in Riga on 5–6 February 2026, bringing together all partner organisations. The meeting focused on reviewing project impact, ensuring sustainability of results, and agreeing on final steps.
It also provided an opportunity for reflection on collaboration, shared learning, and the human connections built throughout the project.
As Project CARE moves toward completion, its results will remain openly accessible, supporting continued awareness-raising and action to prevent social isolation and promote social connection across Europe.
